Quick update

In Short on May 30, 2011 at 11:34 pm

Just a lil’ update, part so I remember to post tomorrow, and part because I’m really excited! We are going to Silver Dollar City tomorrow with my Aunt and Uncle! 😀

Ok, I’m going to bed now.

Visit one, Check

One visit down, two more to go! 😀

WE SURVIVED!  No, I’m not referring to our friends visit (it was AWESOME fun!).  Well, in a way I am.   Our friends who were spending the night were still here, and hung around ’till later in the afternoon. 🙂  You may have heard about all the bad weather in Kansas City.  We had a tornado warning, so we hid out in the basement from about 11 to about 2.  Supposedly there were a few touchdowns around us, but it didn’t really even rain that much!  We didn’t have any damage at all, so, don’t worry! 🙂

OOH! I did something really cool! 😀  In the latest edition of Backwoods Home (A magazine), they have an article about making your own firestarters… Well, yeah… I had to… 🙂 Here’s how I did it:

1 paper egg carton

2 bricks gulf wax

Fuel, aka, assorted flammable goodness: any part of a pine tree, (though needles and cones are traditional 🙂 ), dryer lint, dog fur (from brushing), cotton balls.  I used pine cones (breaking the lobes off) and needles.

Get your cartons and everything ready, fuel in the egg cartons.  Put it on a cookie sheet (mine had oil on it from baking something the night before).  Melt wax (I melted it in a glass jar in a pot of water because we don’t have a double boiler).  Pour melted wax (be very very careful!) into the carton, just enough to hold the fuel.  Put them in the fridge to harden.  When it’s solid, cut cups a part and light wisely. Don’t play with matches or fire 😉 .

It is a little hard to light (at least I had a hard time, I’m wondering if it’s the matches though), but once the carton is lit, your good.  Mine burned about 1/2 an hour (I think lol).

Would you believe that our library doesn’t have Kidnaped?  I had to order it from another one!  It came in a few days ago and I picked it up yesterday. I”m already to chapter 6 🙂 even with company over lol!  I’m really liking it!

Ok, I must go to bed now. G’Night!

Busy, busy, busy!

Uh yeah. Next few weeks are going to be busy.

Tomorrow we are cleaning the church with another family. Of course, the rapture is tomorrow, so…  Actually, I’m not sure I’ll be going.  A few of us will probably, but most of us are sick. Bleh. 😛 I’m not feeling good, and no one else is either, except maybe Dad, so we’ll see.

Sunday there is a TON going on! Meg, Claire and Adam’s art class is going to the Nelson (art museum).  A friend has an eagle scout graduation. And we have the Bible Quiz picnic!  All at the same time! Ahk!  We are only going to  the picnic though, I think.

Tuesday one of Mom’s Online friends is spending the night. Excited about that. They have known each other for 10 years, but never gotten to meet IRL.

Friday some other friends are spending the night with us, the C girls (par-tay! 😉 ).

Saturday or Sunday (I’m not sure what week either, I missed that part lol) My Aunt Uncle and Family are coming up from TX! I don’t think we’ve seen them since Christmas! 😀 Hannah is excited to see Cousin M!

Camp is in three weeks (Thank you counter on the sidebar 🙂 ).   Hopefully I will be doing the Outposting they started this year, as well as CILT.

Today is Will’s Birthday.

Good-night all!

Um… yeah… sorry about that… I kinda forgot to post… tee hee… 🙂

Wow.  I haven’t posted in so long, I don’t remember what I need to fill you in on. |runs off to check last post|

Ok, so it seems I left you at the debate tournament and  Nationals. 😉

The tournament was AWESOME! :D!! We won 2 out of 4 debates, so we got an IBC root beer (it’s a  PSALT thing) for that.  I also got the Quotable  Quotes award. I didn’t think it was that funny, it was sort of an inside joke.  One of my partners sisters (and a friend of mine) had been following us watching our debates and heckling loudly and often, so with a wink I said “and thanks to the Peanut gallery. Please heckle! Except you, you heckle too much. ;)”.

Nat’s went great!  I had a great time!

I sent in my stuff for CILT last week. I’m super excited! [bounces up and down] well, ok, not quite that excited… don’t want to be ostruporus. But still! 😀
We planted a bit of garden this week.
We have two birds nesting in our bird houses (that we have found)!  We had three, but a big snake got the other one :(.  One is in our back yard. We call it “The Projects”.  It’s a Purple Martin house, but a whole bunch of House sparrows have taken up residence.  They are SO funny!  They’re always fighting, really loud!   One will fly up and land, then another will start chasing it, it goes on all day!  They don’t care if we are out there, but they care if the other birds are!!
The other nest is a pair of Indigo Buntings in the front yard in a bird house hung in a tree next to the driveway. THey aren’t so loud, in fact, if mom hadn’t seen the male the other day and asked me to figure out what they are, I wouldn’t have even known we had any!   When I went out and looked in the bird house the female was inside looking out and me! It was so cool!   We also got the Humming bird feeder filled yesterday, and have already had some visitors! Not too surprising though, as they had come up to the empty feeder looking for food.
One year ago tomorrow Will died. Wish I could just sleep all day.
